The 12 songs on this live album pay tribute to the collection "Ganovim-Lider", published in 1928, and the Jewish folklorist Shmuel Lehman (1886-1941), who gathered these songs among criminals and prisoners.
On their recordings Franka Lampe (accordion, vocals) and Fabian Schnedler (vocals) cautiously rediscover these almost forgotten songs for a contemporary audience – black-humored, tragic and dramatic chasms of criminals’ lives, alienation, the narrowness of being isolated, and lost love.
