1. Yar Diye Diye
In this own composition, produced on the Rhine, we were once again on one of our exciting musical journeys. Perhaps somewhere between Azerbaijan and Egypt. And what experiences we had in the process ...

2. Rina Nay
This song follows a handed-down story of two young lovers who cannot be reconciled on account of social convention. In its rhythm and melody this is a typical traditional song from the Black Sea region of Turkey. Rina Nay is an onomatopoeic phrase and is often used in chorus sections.

3. Erkilet Güzeli
Erkilet Güzeli is a well-loved song from Kayseri in Central Anatolia. It was sung at feasts on plantations and in gardens which were held in order to celebrate the wine harvest.

4. Beri Gel
The song from Bitlis in Eastern Anatolia tells of the troubles and yearnings of two people who are far apart and cannot be reconciled because of poverty.

5. Teke
The instrumental with the unusual 9/16 rhythm originates from the central and western regions of Turkey. Goat herding was widespread here for a very long time. This tradition is also reflected in the music. Regional musicians been inspired by the goats' rhythmic bounds for this dance piece. Male goats are called "Teke" in the local vernacular. In a distant sense the regional Mediterranean dance genre and the stylistically special strike of the strings on the long-necked lute are described using the phrase "Teke zotlatmasi".

6. Kapisina
This song tells of the tortures of a young brokenhearted man.

7. Hudey Dem
The onomatopoeic words "hudey" and "dem" are used, sung both individually and together, in the musical-spiritual ceremonies of the Alevitian religious sect. "Hudey" represents a motivating call and motion towards the ritual, whilst "dem" symbolises the reflective concluding phase of the ceremony.

8. Cek Gemici
A traditional song from the central Mediterranean coastal region, "Hop ninnayi" is an onomatopoeic invitational call in Turkish dance songs.

9. Tastin Yine
The text was originally written by Yunus Emre and translated into German by Zafer Senocak.
The works of the important 13th century folk poet and mystic, Yunus Emre, form part of Turkish literature's great heritage.

10. Rakouzo
The title, "Rakouzo", is a combination of the words "raki" and "ouzo". The inspiration for this piece came from the Aegean, at that place where the Turkish mainland and Greek islands are not far apart. There, where not only the beautiful blue of the sea connects the people on both sides.

11. Ben Yana
The text was originally written by Pir Sultan Abdal and translated into German by Gisela Kraft. The work of Pir Sultan Abdal, a mystical lyricist of the 16th century, was marked by his commitment against injustice and oppression in the time of Ottoman rule. He was considered a rebel and was executed. Today the Alevitian folk poet is honoured and a large number of his poems have been set to music by famous songwriters.

12. Giresun Karsilamasi
The instrumental "Giresun welcome" originates from Giresun, a town on the coast of the Black Sea. From time immemorial it has been the custom in this region to play special songs at traditional celebrations. Homage is paid to the arriving guests with the so-called "Karsilama", the songs of reception and welcome.
